tsuyu

Every week or so, my partner Sonja and I will set aside a little bit of time together—half an hour, an hour at most—to do a little creative jam. The rules are as follows: one of us comes up with a prompt, and then we each do some kind of project on our own. At the end of the allotted time, we share what we have with each other. Sometimes it’s a story, sometimes it’s poetry, sometimes it’s even a little bit of music. We call these our “create dates” (hey, why not; it rhymes).

Most of what we make is only for ourselves and each other, but every so often I’m moved to share one of mine. This new website seems like as good a place for that as any.

The first thing I’ll share is a bit of flash fiction inspired by a rainy afternoon spent wandering a park in Tokyo, years ago. (I shot the clip above during that walk, while sheltering from a sudden downpour.)

(Apparently I like writing characters with palindromic three-letter names and big eyes. Might revise later.)
